Anatomical Body Direction Reference

Lateral is direction away from the midline of  the body
Medial is direction into  the midline of the body
Proximal is close to the joint or trunk
Distal is away from the joint or trunk
Anterior is in the front direction of the body
Posterior is in the back direction of the body
