WMC Newsletter November 2018

Hi folks,

The year is winding down (or should that be quickening up) before the Christmas break.  This will be the last WMC newsletter for 2018, so maybe it would be a good thing to look back at where we’ve come, rather like in the medium walking group below.

The high point this year was the Andy McNeill memorial Run and Walk.  Read more

And we completed our fourth bus trip to the Remutaka Rail Trail.  A simple route but with some excellent spooky tunnels.  Can you remember where we went for the other 3 trips?  Where should we go next year?

Judith points us to some training research.  I especially liked the last point.  Read it here

There is an excellent article from Charities Services which explains the rules around sports clubs and charities.  Our requirement to promote activity in the community was one reason why the Andy McNeill Event was free to anyone.

This month’s profile is on one of our quickest walkers, Robert Tredger

And Femke’s next Corrective Session will be this coming Sunday 02 Dec 2018, at 10:30am at the club room. All members are welcome to join in.

From the committee

The Clinic AGM will be on Sunday 16 December at the ASB – turkey trot from 8.15 am, morning tea at 10am, meeting at 10.15 am.

Room booking are being done for 2019.  The first Sunday that there will be a room available is 20th January.  The end-time for the room hire booking will be 11:00, which is in line with the hours that Meghan, our Sunday assistant, works.

WMC has its 40th anniversary in 2019

  • There will be a morning tea on the 27th.
  • The archiving project is continuing
  • a special events sub-committee is planning other celebrations

Nominations are sought for a committee member and a treasurer for 2019.

Notes from Mike Candy, our president

Need a couple of extra gifts?  Fem has foot rollers and skin creams for $28 and $15 respectively.  Ask Stan or a committee member for her contact details.

If I don’t see you before Christmas, I wish you an enjoyable holiday.  And remember – keep moving!
