March 2019 Newsletter

Hello clinicians,

As we fall towards the end of daylight saving, one nice thought is that it won’t be so hot out there.  I know some people like the heat, but not me. Also autumn tends to have less wind. Forgive me if I add a weather pic, courtesy of Judith, to illustrate the excellent running conditions at this time of year.

What’s coming up

Sunday 7th April – rumour has it that some Hutt Valley runners will be in the vicinity.

Sunday 21 April (Easter Sunday) – business as usual – ASB 8-11am

Sunday 28 April – Fem’s Corrective Session – ASB, Ngake Rm 10:30am

Looking further ahead:

Saturday 4 May, Rotorua Marathon –  Let Meghan know if you want to meet up with other WMC people for dinner after the prize giving.

Sunday 12 May – Happy Banding Day, ASB.  Perhaps a bit similar to the “rubber band” event a couple of years ago.

Sunday 19 May – Bus trip – Battle Hill Farm

Saturday 10 August – SAVE THE DATE: 40th Anniversary Dinner at The Pines

Sunday 20 October 2019 – Andy McNeill Event.  Same course as last year, but we want this to be an even better event.

Who is our new veep?

Are women better runners than men?

A Big Adventure

A message from the committe: we are is looking for a new committee member, preferably with some comms and/or IT skills/interest. If you’re interested, get in touch with a committee member.

Judith’s training tips: Here is a link to an item published on the Women’s Running Facebook page about the benefits of nitrates for runners (and presumably walkers!).   To this I would add, ‘don’t overdo the beetroot juice’! I understand it can cause headaches, so be sure to hydrate with actual water after your run/walk!
