Newsletter May 2018

Brrrr, the cold is starting to bite isn’t it?   One of the great things about running and walking is that you can do them all year round – you just add some more layers, perhaps change into trail shoes, and deal with a slightly bigger laundry load.  A small price to pay for your dose of fresh air.

I’m asking nicely Brian!

Dates to remember

  • 16 June: movie night
  • 1 July: Wellington marathon, also Gold Coast marathon (go Judith!)
  • 22 July: Trip to Catchpool, Rimutaka forest Park
  • 4 August: WMC dinner, more on this later in June

This month WMC caught up with the latest Harry McDonald trophy winners, Bruce and Janet Campbell.  The profile on this indomitable couple is here.

The similarly indomitable Jennifer Lane writes about her Great Forest experience

Judith Dennis, also indomitable, continues her excellent series on training, this time she talks about how to improve strength.

It seems like the word for this month is indomitable (or maybe I’ve been reading too many Asterix comics), but we can all be conquered by sudden injury.  I’ve put a few thoughts together on what you should do if you come across a first aid situation.

Stay safe, Wim
