ETHNIC COMMUNITIES IN NEW ZEALAND

Ethnic refers to New Zealanders who are not of Anglo-Celtic, Maori or Pacific origin. In other words, ethnic in New Zealand represent the growing population of Asian, Continental European, African and Middle Eastern New Zealanders, some of whom have been here for generations, some of whom have just arrived.

The New Zealand Federation of Multicultural Councils Inc. was established in July 1989 as an incorporated, non-government body, which acts as an umbrella organisation for the ethnic communities of New Zealand. The Federation's primary role is to promote, support and share information among the Regional Councils.
